| Bio: | tell all the truth but tell it... //slant I...well. I graduated not so long ago from Williams College. Let no one tell you that selective colleges are your gateway to automatic greatness: I am unemployed. Therefore I live in Atlanta, and I seek to be employed. Hopefully outside. I have many life ambitions: + to teach American literature to teenagers in the woods + to work here again + to go back to New Mexico + to write something really, really good + to learn to play the guitar + to communicate fully with a computer (I've gone Mac and while I find this format more responsive, it is even less comprehensible) + to build a house off the grid in North Carolina, grow my own food, and become a hermit and prophet of a new religion of self-reliance...I may have a slight case of Thoreau-itis + to make almost no money and be happy about it + to learn another language + to make other people think, challenge themselves, and be happy Unfortunately I do not have a job doing any of these things. I am given to rants. I like to rant about stupid politicians (specifically conservative ones, although this has become a bit less prominent since I slipped into post-election I-can't-do-anything-to-save-my-country-and-oh-by-the-way-where-are-we-going-in-this-handbasket funk), professors who can't teach, professors who give stupid assignments (whether they can teach or not), bad writing, and oversimplified views of anything, particularly race, sexuality, environmentalism, the South, and religion. A disclaimer: just because I happen to disagree with you doesn't mean that I don't like you. But be warned: I have no tolerance for bigotry or childish insensitivity from people who ought to know better, and I have defriended people for this reason in the past. I am also given to rambles. Sometimes they sound like bad poetry, and for that I apologize. I also write bad poetry and itsy-bitsy stories when the mood strikes, but I hide them elsewhere on this lovely site. If you've made it this far I'm guessing you're an agreeable person and should introduce yourself. Though I seldom write in this journal given my insane workload, I'm actually consistently around and I like meeting people. Much of this journal is friends-only.
